Once in our lifetime, we experienced an urge to become our very best. But we tend to forget something crucial: that we might end up nothing unless we learn to be resilient enough to handle things seriously. Sometimes we take things lightly and for granted. If you think life is just some kind of a game that you can bet on, then think twice. For some people, life is a gamble. But with the right opportunity at the right time, you can make a big difference in your life! It's just maybe I don't believe in predestination, that's all. Our lives relies much in our very own will and decisions.
Here's what I believe in: I believe that we are all born the same. Some might be lucky to be rich and pretty, but that's not an issue. What counts most is your determination to live your dream and learn to survive. So I say it again, better be careful of what you wish for, or that might lead you to greed and anger. Learn to be contented with who you are, and enjoy. If you want to achieve something, work for it with all your heart!
Jack of all trades - best of none...That's what most people think about me, especially if they are comparing me with my kins who are very professional in their chosen careers. But one reason why I chose to be alone, and despite the fact that I was sometimes criticized for not being connected with bigger companies is that I'm happy with what I'm doing and I enjoy helping the smaller one's who are determined to grow. Maybe, my key ingredient in making things work is that I work not only for money, but for the enjoyment of it. I would consider myself as an achiever if I gain the trust and confidence of those people I've been working with. I hate those workplaces where employees keep on competing with each other. And I hate people taking advantage of each other's resources just for their own good.
Life is a process of ups and downs...In my childhood, I was known to be a loser. I keep doing things differently, experimenting on strategies I don't really knew for what purpose. I was even touted as 'eccentric'. Most of the time, I was being judged and measured. But things changed after college. Everything's changed... my life, my principles, and my conviction.
I graduated Masscom Bachelor in Broadcast Communication at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. My first two years in the media was not easy. But I learned a great deal from the two companies in Manila I've worked with. They thought me how to be strong and face realities, even teaching me the ethics of our profession.
Life is a continuous learning...I've been a newswriter in Manila for about two years. And from then on, I keep hopping from one job to another. It's just that maybe I was not feeling competent enough with other media practioners in the field, so I keep on searching for the best job for me. In order to combat this uneasy feeling, I decided to seek training at the local radio stations in Pangasinan. Finally, in August of 1998, I was given a big break by becoming a local newscaster/ reporter at DWWW 1017 Khz AM Radyo Tambuyog, Dagupan City. It was a provincial radio station of the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation, the home of IBC Channel 13. At the same time, I worked for Sunstar Pangasinan Daily as news and feature correspondent and photojournalist. So, my radio report for the day would be the news content in the papers the next morning. That's like shooting two birds with the same stone!
On January 1999, I became a newscaster/ deejay at DZAI 92.1 City FM, a local radio station in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan. Aside from these, I was also assigned as the station's events coordinator: I handle publicity for shows happening in and around the city, even hosting two major shows!
I worked there for a year before I decided to go back to Manila.
My last two years in Broadcast changed me a lot. I've learned how to assist young talents who wish to be part of the Broadcast and Entertainment world. Two other jobs followed: I became an Editorial Assistant at Miscellaneous Weekly Magazine in 2002, and a Talent Coordinator/ Photographer for Alternative Communications Media from 2004 until August of 2006.
To date, I am working freelance. I am a member of Sining Kulay at Tinta (SIKAT) Group of Artist, and in charge of hosting our shows and writing our press releases. Painting is a longtime hobby for me, and perhaps a lifetime commitment. (Please view SIKAT's website here: sikat.wetpaint.com)
I still pursue photography - very much! As a matter of fact, upon purchasing my Olympus C500 Digicam in June 2005, I started my full time career in photography and graphic arts. I've worked with new models, co-artists, and multimedia companies.
Honestly, I don't get paid much compared with my contemporaries or other professionals on the field. But it's enough for me that I can do whatever I want, and that people appreciate my works. My greatest achievement as I have said, is "people's trust and appreciation".
I love helping others, as a way of looking back to where I came from. At the moment, I am personally managing the career of a dear friend who's very much like a little sister to me: a 13 year old amateur Singer/ Model from Marikina City. I devoted a whole page for her under Features - Grendel De Ramos, so kindly browse her photos and demos. I've created her own website at: grendelderamos.wetpaint.com.
I am also organizing a newly formed pop-rock band from Marikina City, serving them as their adviser, consultant and current band manager. I know some things are hard to achieve, but for the sake of these upcoming talents' future, I will try my best to help them realize their goals. By helping them achieve their dreams, I might be able to realize my ideals too.
My works are not solely for business. It is meant for entertainment, as well as public information. This is my goal for creating my website: to share something significant to the world, and for generations to come.
A picture paints a thousand words and may launch multiple meanings.
These are my profile photos showing my life's great moments and opportunities:
